Having employees is a huge responsibility, but it’s not just your responsibility to ensure they are paid on time. You need to make sure you’re doing all you can to keep them engaged and ensure they are happy in their position. If you fail to do this, you’ll have a high employee turnover rate and end up spending so much more money in training new staff and rehiring. Below, you’ll find 4 suggestions that will help you to ensure you keep your employees happy so that they stay with you for as long as possible.

1. Listen To Them

Make sure you’re listening to your team. One of the best things you can do is show them that you want to make things better for them by listening to their problems and complaints. Make sure you have an open-door policy and that you do something when a member of the team approaches you with a complaint or issue.

2. Praise Them

Find ways to praise your team, both as one and individually. If your team is not being recognized for their hard work, they will struggle to stay engaged with the position.

3. Give Them Bonuses

Give your team bonuses, such as occasional free lunches, flexible work hours, and even gym memberships. Make sure you give them more than the bare minimum.

4. Encourage Breaks

Your team needs breaks to function well – not just during the working day, but vacation time, too. You should encourage them to take regular breaks and to make the most of their vacation time to avoid burnout. The infographic below will back you up!
