Supermercato24 acquires Polish grocery delivery service Szopi
Supermercato24, an Italian same-day delivery service for online grocery, has announced the acquisition of Szopi, an on-demand grocery delivery service from Poland, Ecommerce News reports.
With the recent acquisition, Supermercato24 wants to speed up its upcoming launch in?Poland. It also uses the agreement to leverage a strategic network of retailers to start building a presence in this new market.
Szopi, whose platform will be integrated into Supermercato24 at the beginning of next year, was launched three years ago and delivers products from some of the largest Polish supermarkets and discount stores, such as Carrefour, Auchan, Biedronka, and Lidl.
Polish users who visit the Szopi.pl website can compile their shopping list in their favorite store. Then, a trained shopper caries out the groceries for them. Currently, the service operates in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, and Poznan, but it will become available in other locations shortly.
The founders of Szopi will become an active part of Supermercato24, focusing on business development and operations.
Supermercato24 is an online grocery marketplace, which allows customers to choose their favorite supermarket online and pick between multiple products and promotions. Then, similar to how Szopi operates, a shopper tracks down the products in-store and delivers them to the requested address on the same day, sometimes even within an hour.
