Despite Amazon started its activity in the Netherlands in 2014, it only sold e-books and its e-reader, the Amazon Kindle
According to Ecommerce News, Amazon has officially launched in the Netherlands.?The e-commerce company now offers all kinds of products, instead of selling only e-books and e-readers. This way, it’s going to compete with local players Bol, Coolblue, and Wehkamp, providing electronics, toys, fashion, DIY (Do It Yourself) and foodstuff.
Along with that, Bol, the biggest online retailer of the Netherlands, reacted by launching a fashion category on its website. What is more, it decreased the commission fees in some product categories. Furthermore, the Ahold-owned company launched a marketing campaign this week, putting the focus on its selling partners.
The data revealed that Amazon has also started the offering of its premium service Amazon Prime. Dutch customers pay €2.99 per month and in return, they will get free delivery with no minimum order value for products sold and shipped by Amazon. Besides, its customers get access to video streaming service Prime Video, free games with Twitch Prime and unlimited photo storage with Amazon Photos.
