Hello everyone! Today I will be reviewing a skin care product from a brand called Asian Secrets. Although I do have policies when it comes to the time frame on when I can produce a review [CLICK HERE TO READ MY BLOG’S DISCLAIMER], this entry will be a first impression blog post wherein I will share my initial thoughts and observation about the product.
Timely, I have a nasty scar on my elbow after falling down the stairs (for the 2nd time this year) last week, so for this review, I will be using my elbow’s scar as my basis.
Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub is a beauty treatment inspired by a most luxurious Indonesian ritual called Lulur. The ritual was originally intended for the bride-to-be in order to beautify, smoothen, and whiten her skin before her wedding day. Lulur originated from the royal palaces of Java, Indonesia and products inspired by this traditional treatment are still used by Indonesian women today.
WHAT IT CLAIMS
The benefits of Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub:
- It gently exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells to soften the skin and give it a radiant glow.
- Frequent usage reduces skin pigmentation and evens out skin tone by getting rid of dark patches especially in areas prone to darkening such as the elbows, knees, armpits and the area between the thighs.
- It contains Vitamin E and Green Tea extract, powerful antioxidants that protect your skin from free radicals to keep it healthy and young-looking.
- It also contains Squalene and Olive Oil that help maintain moisture in your skin.
If you’ve been a reader of mine since day 1, you know well for a fact that packaging is one of the first things that I discuss and rant about. For this particular product, I like how they have provided a lot of information like product claim(s), warnings, ingredients, and other relevant information that a consumer like me needs to know.
At the bottom, it contains the MFG date as well as the EXP date which is very important especially that it’s a product that’s meant to touch the skin (we don’t want to use any expired products on our skin, right?)
It also has a plastic seal on the rim which is outstanding because then the consumer will know that the product they will be getting is a new and untested one.
However, if you want to share this product with your sister or other members of the family and you still want to be hygienic, you might want to purchase a cosmetic spatula or use a plastic spoon to dispense the product from the jar since this one doesn’t come with any of those.
For those who have a sensitive nose, I think both product’s scent is tolerable.
The one in purple, which contains mulberry leaf extract does have a noticeable scent that of mulberry. While the one in blue, which contains seaweed extract has a sweet smell that kind of reminds me of flowers.
APPLICATION/INITIAL REACTION/PRODUCT CONSISTENCY (5/5)
I have been using body scrubs since I don’t even know when. From the most expensive one that comes from my dermatologists to the ones that are readily available in the market, I feel that I am somewhat capable of producing a decent review for this.
For one, I like the consistency of this product. It has a mousse like texture that slowly turns into a powder dust like texture as you carefully rub it onto your skin. Because of the polyethylene (one of the product’s ingredients), it has bead like particles which are basically the ones who exfoliates the skin.
After washing the areas where I used this product, I immediately noticed how smooth it became which is probably because of the cetyl alcohol (which is one of the ingredients). I like how it did not make my skin turn into a red irritated one so that’s a plus for this product.
I am currently on the 3rd day as I type down this review. Overall, I feel like this product has potential and somehow lives up to its claim. It provided me a soft skin after using it, plus, unlike the other body scrubs I have used, this one did not irritate my skin at all.
I will be posting an update review about this product after a month so I can share with you an update on how my elbow looks like.
