Where do I even begin…
We wanted to try something new because we wanted to post a new restaurant and food review on the blog. We decided that we wanted to try Surf Burger in Malolos, Bulacan.
We thought it was just a Monday and still working hours so we didn’t bother much as to why there weren’t any customers. We headed onto our seats and ordered our food.
Prior to arriving at Surf Burger, not sure if it’s just me and Jek, but we always try to agree on what to order so that we won’t spend too much time reading the menu and deciding what to get. We decided that we wanted burgers and pastas and if we’re still not satisfied, get an order of onion rings.
Just look at those photos on the menu! Doesn’t it all look appetizing?
I got a fish burger and Balete pasta while the girlfriend decided to go for the American burger and Pres. Quezon pasta.
Let me break down what goes into each food:
- Fish burger – typical burger buns with lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber. You get a cream dory fish and hashbrown.
- American burger – again the usual plus a quarter pound all beef patty.
- Balete pasta – linguine with pesto sauce and nuts.
- Pres. Quezon pasta – linguine with carbonara sauce and sausages.
This is where the horror starts.
Just look at how colorless and bland that supposedly pesto pasta is. It was as if I ordered an Aglio Olio pasta because all it really was is a regular spaghetti noodle pasta with olive oil and nuts.
For the carbonara, the sauce was lacking taste and the sausages were too salty.
Let’s move on to the burgers. First up, my fish burger. The taste was okay, nothing special. I just wished they didn’t add too much sauce since it just made the whole dish messy and soggy.
As for this one, it’s the American burger. Patty was okay except it was slightly overcooked. The cheese sauce was too watery and tasteless it just made the buns soggy.
We were highly disappointed with Surf Burger Malolos. The price does not justify the quality of the food – taste and presentation. The location is not the best since a lot of street-dwellers are present there, so for those who will be bringing their own vehicle, I would suggest that you tidy-up your valuables.
We won’t be recommending this to anyone and we’ll certainly not come back.
