Here I am patiently sitting in NAIA 3 as we wait for boarding time. To avoid boredome, I’ll go ahead and do a quick review of my newest favorite siopao “brand” – Roberto’s.
This was given to me by one of our staff when he flew from Iloilo to Manila to do our training. I’ve been hearing so much about Roberto’s Siopao and I was very very excited when he handed me a big plastic bag.
I originally wanted to try the Queen siopao which has the bacon in it but since Jumbo was the only available variant during that time I still won’t pass the opportunity to taste it and, of course, do a review.
My first bite went a little bit like this: …speechless… As I dig in for another bite, I realize how good it tastes and how it exceeded my expectations for a siopao. I may be overreacting but I tell you, once you’ve tried it, you’re going to ask for more.
I have yet to try their King and Queen siopao but for now, the Jumbo variant is good enough for me. For Php45.00, it’s definitely worth it – ingredients are generously placed in, the diameter is almost an inch bigger than a saucer, and one small bite will reveal what’s inside (unlike others that you have to take a second bite because the first one was the mantao alone).
If you will be visiting Iloilo, don’t forget to visit Roberto’s Siopao. It will definitely change your perspective on Siopaos!
